2026 LA Senior SC State Championship Recap

2026 LOUISIANA SENIOR SC STATE CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP

Nu Wave Swim Club sent 19 athletes to the 2026 Louisiana SC State Championships held in Sulphur last month. We are excited to announce that all participating swimmers scored points in their individual events helping our team come away with a 2^nd place finish!

Nu Wave’s top point scorers were Nicolas Aldana Huelga and Corinne Lerch with 119 points and Zoe McEvoy with 117 points.

The competition concluded with the Mixed 200 Medley Relay. After several last minutes adjustments, our team was represented by members of tis year’s graduating class: Drew Launey, Rebecca Vindel, Madeline Olivard and Nicolas Aldana Huelga. Although this relay finished in 10^th place in this event, we were all shocked to be informed that our team has set a new State Record in this relay for the 17-18 age group!

Our final team placement came down to a handful of points over 3+ days proving the value of every swimmer, every event, and every relay. As a team, we do not set out to score the most points, we make every effort to set the athletes up for exciting and meaningful swims. Our championship meets are marathons. Commitment to the work is what allows us to successfully complete the tasks in front of us. Another season in the books, another just beginning. Our 2026 long course season officially starts on Monday, March 16. Buckle up!
